The dusk view over Chiang Mai from the lookout at Doi Suthep. It is unspeakably gorgeous.

Friday, 23rd October - Skywatch #5

It's been a long time between Skywatches, but I'm happy to be posting this as my first one from Chiang Mai, Thailand. I just like the inky sky against the stadium-style lighting of this soccer field, which wears really a much more pedestrian look by day. Thanks to the game schedule, the team was also very happy to be training at dusk today, instead of the blazing heat of mid-afternoon.

Sometimes, you can see planes skirting the tops of the trees (or so it seems), as they land at Chiang Mai airport. None would oblige me this evening, however, and I had to get on with it.

A blazingly beautiful sunset. I think I stood in the middle of the road for a moment to get this one.

I don't know what it is, but to me there's something quintessentially Australian about this landscape. I like how the little trees look like animals... well, they do to me, anyway :)

Oh, but I do love a full moon.

Thursday night... clearly, *everyone* is doing their late night shopping.

Um... *what* financial crisis?!

Another walk in my local park. I loved the vista of the sky at close of day.

Gorgeous sky on the way home from work today.

This is another not-so-good picture taken by my not-so-good eyes as I was being chauffered back from another medical appointment. I could see the gorgeous colour of the last of the sunset, but couldn't focus or aim properly!

Friday, 1st May, 2009

Considering I couldn't see properly, this wasn't too bad a shot, I thought. I had a corneal injury and just pointed & clicked out of a very badly watering eye. (It's okay, I wasn't the one driving.)

Yet another post too late for Skywatch!

Ah, but isn't the sky beautiful? It's the colour of a dream.

I'm not overly fond of the forty degree days, especially working out west - but I do love the hazy, lazy summer nights and the way the sun lingers on. Snapped at 8:30pm.

Driving home from church, the bright lights and dark sky caught my eye.

Why so many twilight shots? I guess I'm just a night-owl :)

Who would have thought going ten-pin bowling could give me such a classy shot? All credit to the gorgeous summer night.

Attending a wedding rehearsal for the two friends whose orders of service you saw here, I snapped this one during a break in the practice. Another twilight shot.
