I guess it is because I have been an inner-west chickie for most of my life that there are some parts of Sydney that just don't look or feel like Sydney to me. This is one of them... the "town centre" at Rouse Hill. I thought this shot captured the sense of disorientation I feel when I find myself in them thar parts.
[Some other places that don't feel like Sydney to me include: the McMansions of Kellyville and Bella Vista (which bears a scary resemblance to Seahaven of The Truman Show fame), as well as parts of Newington, the refurbished half of Silverwater and Homebush Bay).]

In all the years I lived in Sydney (lastly Camden) I did not visit Rouse Hill! This view surprises me too!

ReplyDeleteThis new complex - or what passes as a "town centre" - at Rouse Hill only opened about a year ago. I guess it's revising my ideas of what Sydney looks like! :)
Secret Mom Thoughts:
Thanks! It's interesting you call it a "cityscape" - it being over 35km from the Sydney CBD, I hadn't thought of it that way!
