Was this lady posing for me? I'm not sure, but I liked the juxtaposition.

Thai streetscape, near Nimmanheimin. A storm approaches in the distance.

All I can think of is the word - kalamplii! Cabbages on their way to market. (Either that, or someone's really hungry.)

Just a neighbourhood streetscape - see labels :)

The Viking really likes this blow-up wavy guy on the way to Airport Plaza.

Even though I'm a Sydneyite through and through, there is absolutely no shame in admitting that Melbourne has its charms.

My ten-month absence from home makes me notice, and appreciate, changes in my surroundings, a whole lot more, these days. I took this on my way to the local library, somewhere I hadn't been for a while.

Funnily enough, the bikes reminded me of the racks in front of school, back in Chiang Mai.

Okay, I'll admit, it was a bit of a do-nothing day today. Ran a few errands - snapped this one from my car at a set of traffic lights, to catch a bit of the blue sky today.

Today I thought I'd give some attention to some humble street art.

Friday, 12th June, 2009 - Skywatch #4

I guess it is because I have been an inner-west chickie for most of my life that there are some parts of Sydney that just don't look or feel like Sydney to me. This is one of them... the "town centre" at Rouse Hill. I thought this shot captured the sense of disorientation I feel when I find myself in them thar parts.

[Some other places that don't feel like Sydney to me include: the McMansions of Kellyville and Bella Vista (which bears a scary resemblance to Seahaven of The Truman Show fame), as well as parts of Newington, the refurbished half of Silverwater and Homebush Bay).]

This is my attempt to capture the last of the autumn colour before the slow slide into winter. It's still quite warm during the day, but the greyness seems perpetual at the moment.

This is yet another picture of my favourite tree. It has obviously been 'magicked', with help from Picasa3. I took it almost in the pitch black; it was dark by the time I got through the M4 gridlock after leaving school late today. It's quite a dramatic shot. I like it.

Ah, the colours of autumn... there's nothing like it.

I'm not sure what it was about this streetscape exactly that captured my attention. It was just a pleasing confluence of something.

The nice thing about being sick is that you get chauffered around a lot. This is the exterior of my church, in the lazy Sunday afternoon light.

Thursday, 30th April, 2009

Another portrait of my favourite tree. I liked the light on it this afternoon.

Apparently there can be good things about being stuck in traffic jams.

This shot reminds me of the painting Nighthawks, by Edward Hopper... just without the people. (I always feel a bit funny about photographing random people on the street.)

Well, it wasn't quite the weekend weather I'd hoped for - it was blustery, grey and windy instead - but this paint shop definitely put colour in my day.
